When You Want to Burn It All Down
Ep. 08

When You Want to Burn It All Down

In Wakanda Forever Suri said “I want to burn it all down”, and I felt those words in my bones. In the face of unimaginable loss, grief, and anger it is natural to feel as if you want to “burn it all down”. In this episode I talk about living as an embodied being by acknowledging and validating your emotions, not gaslighting yourself, and how to keep from being burned up when you’re in the throes of anger.

Let's Talk About Kindness
Ep. 07

Let's Talk About Kindness

It can sound cliched to say “be kind” or to talk about kindness, especially in the face of overwhelming oppression, fear, and anger. This podcast isn’t about that. Instead, we look at how we can be kind to ourselves, and how seeing everyone as having human dignity means we can be kind to them too. But we’ll also talk about when kindness isn’t warranted and how to ensure that your kindness isn’t being abused.

Why be authentic right now?
Ep. 06

Why be authentic right now?

Mid January 2024 the world changed in an instant. And for many communities, it just got a lot more dangerous to be your true, authentic self. Now, we know who we are regardless of what proclamations are signed or what others say about us. But also, I can’t deny it hurts to have such hate levied at you. The question I’m asking this week is: why be authentic right now? For a lot of us, every instinct is telling us to hide, to go back into the closet, or just not come out of it at all. Try to mask, to code switch, and to fit in so you don’t draw attention. But the truth is, the world needs your authenticity–the world needs YOU–now more than ever. And I talk about why that is and why it’s vital to be authentic even in moments like this.

Let's Talk About Labels
Ep. 03

Let's Talk About Labels

A lot of people think labels can be bad things, but there are ways in which you can claim labels and use them to create new stories and reclaim your power. This episode covers a lot of territory from labels, the questions you ask when someone labels you (Is it true? What power do they gain or what do they seek to do?) and how to turn those negative labels into positive ones for yourself. We finish by talking about people claiming labels are a fad and help you navigate that space.

Let's Get Embodied
Ep. 02

Let's Get Embodied

As we begin our journey together through Feathermane Soul Wisdom, my first full episode discusses what I mean when I talk about living as an embodied being. Remembering that we are “a being” and not “a doing” has been the fodder for a lot of memes online and a lot of pop psychology. And yet, underneath the quips and social media graphics, there is truth. That we are beings. We inhabit a body. And too often our culture, our belief system, and even the way we live our lives serves to separate ourselves from our body. In this episode I discuss what I mean when I say embodied and how that interacts with our authentic self, our spirituality, and living our truest, best life.

Introduction Episode

Welcome to the official launch of the Feathermane Soul Wisdom podcast. I begin this show by talking about my process, my work, my goals, and what I hope to bring to you. If you’re listening to this there’s a good chance you are neurodivergent, might be queer, and you may experience a chronic illness or disability, or maybe you see yourself in all three groups. I struggled for a long time trying to be who others wanted me to be. Trying to fit in, be “normal” (That is just a setting on the dryer, you know, and maybe not even the newer ones.), and in the end I worked myself to one of the biggest episodes of autistic burnout I have ever experienced. And it’s changed my life forever. I focused on what I want. Completed a bachelors degree and now am working on a masters degree in Religious Studies, took the lovely intersection of psychology, mental health, spirituality, religion, and living queer, neruodivergent, and chronically ill/disabled, and smashed it together like a giant ball of Silly Putty, then started to see what I could do with it. This podcast is part of that process. I hope you’ll join me weekly.
